CFGALA is Adopted by a Dentist's Office

Every year, Dr. Stephanie Hackney and her staff pick a worthy cause to support.  This year they decided to adopt CFGALA.  They posted our “Let a Kid be a Kid” poster and handed out CFGALA information to every client.  .

“To tell you the truth, I didn’t really know what Guardian ad Litem was all about,” confessed Dr. Hackney, “but Anne Sorhagan was so enthusiastic and, once I heard what it was about, I knew that this was an organization we should support.”

“After listening to a presentation by Dan Cameron and Anne, my staff and I voted to adopt CFGALA.”

The staff solicited donations from Picasso’s Café and Quality Clean Car Wash and Dr. Hackney added a new high-tech electric toothbrush and an art piece to the items they raffled off.  The $460 raised for CFGALA went for enrichment activities for abused and neglected children in New Hanover and Pender Counties

Most of the clients of Dr. Hackney’s dental office at 1337 Military Cutoff Road were not aware of what Guardian ad Litem was all about but the staff took the time to explain what we do and people were enthusiastic.  “That’s awesome,” exclaimed one client who bought a number of $5 raffle tickets.

Dr. Hackney and her staff were so excited about helping abused and neglected children – and bolstered by the response of their clients -  that they plan to organize another fundraiser for CFGALA in 2008.

Special thanks go to Dr. Stephanie Hackney and her staff:  Angie Allen and Barbara Roberts, hygienists; Ashley Wilson and Donna Lee Higgins, receptionists; and Amy David and Rhonda Hager, assistants.
